The uncertainty of 0.00028 comes from their stated uncertainty of 0.00040 in delta_h, and leads to uncertainty of 0.00022 and 0.00024 in K and consequently 0.010 kJ/mol in DeltaG. This seems quite optimistic. Uncertainty of 0.00040 in delta_h leads to uncertainty of 0.014 kJ/mol in DeltaG. The latter has been multiplied by a factor of 2. Also, Bright 1947 give fraction decomposed, X = 2{I2}/(2[I2}+[HI]) 0.21253 (+- 0.0160) at 696.4 K and 0.24265 (+- 0.0142) at 778.8 C; K can be obtained from 1/K = 2(1/X-1); the uncertainty in parentheses is 95% confidence limit based on std. dev. |
