Conn 1939 | J. B. Conn, G. B. Kistiakowsky, and E. A. Smith, J. Am. Chem. Soc. 61, 1868-1876 (1939) Heats of Organic Reactions. VIII. Some Further Hydrogenations, Including Those of Some Acetylenes |
note C2H2 | Conn 1939 report the enthalpy of hydrogenation at 355 as 75062 +- 66 (150) cal/mol, with the value in parentheses giving the estimated overall uncertainty. Cox 1970 quotes this value as resulting in 74.58 +- 0.15 kcal/mol at 298 K and with DeltaH298(c2H6) of -20.24 +- 0.12 kcal/mol, producing DeltaH298(C2H2) of 54.34 - 0.19 kcal/mol, which is the same value as that adopted later by Gurvich TPIS. Howevr, the conversion from 355 K to 298 K does not seem to coincide with that in use here. |
