Peters 1958 | H. Peters and H.-H. Möbius, Z. phys. Chem. (Leipzig) 209, 298-309 (1958) Elektrochemische Untersuehung der Gleichgewichte CO + 1/2 O2 = CO2 und C + CO2 = 2 CO |
note COe | Peters 1958 give Kp for C + CO2 -> 2 CO for 5 temperatures ranging between 1051.1 and 1462.8 K. From this data one obtains a fit of DeltaG = 164.326 +- 1.292 - (0.170215 +- 0.003256)*T/(K) in kJ/mol, where the uncertainty is one std. dev. of the fit. The fitted DeltaG values and experimental values are quite close, with a std. dev of only 0.090 kJ/mol. For 5-2=3 degrees of freedom, the corresponding 95% confidence limit is 3.182*0.090 = 0.287 kJ/mol. The average T is 1236.8 K, corresponding to DeltaG = -46.195 +- 1.808 kJ/mol, where the unc. is one std. dev of the fitted parameters. This value would lead to a third law value of DeltaH298 of 172.2 kJ/mol. CODATA Key Vals obtains a third law value of 171.9 +- 1.5 kJ/mol. The network value is that for 1236.8 K. The uncertainty of +- 0.3 kJ/mol does not include systematic errors. |
